Mr. Gene Allen “Shanghai” Wishon, age 75, Jonesborough, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the Johnson City Medical Center from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Mr. Wishon was born June 29, 1948, in Washington County, TN, to the late Jim & Novada Curtis Wishon. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Fred Wishon, two sisters, Louise Rhymer and Debbie Miller.

He was of the Christian faith. He loved playing with his great-grandchildren, gardening and was a “Jack of all Trades”.

Mr. Wishon was a Foreman at Rainbow Bakery.

Survivors include two sons, Gene Wishon, Jr., and Brad Wishon, both of Jonesborough; ex-wife and dear friend, Sharon Wishon, Jonesborough; grandsons, Bradley Wishon, Jonathan Wishon and Charles Wishon; great-grandchildren, Hunter Wishon, Ellie Wishon and Elias Wishon; brothers, James Wishon and Mark Wishon; sisters, Dorothy Dye and Sue Smith; his chihuahua, “Dolly”; and many nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 PM, Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Hubbard officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Saturday prior to the service.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 11, 2024, at Washington County Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be friends and family.
