Ms. Ella Sue Ferguson, age 87, Johnson City, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at her residence.

Ms. Ferguson was born December 30, 1936, in the New Victory Community, to the late Ralph & Catherine Lewis Lloyd. She was born the 10th of 11 children. She was also preceded in death by six brothers, Wayne Lloyd, Harold Lloyd, Lester Lloyd, Sherman “Den” Lloyd, John Lloyd, and Euel Lloyd, and three sisters, Ruth Markwood, Evelyn Wasson, and Letha Lloyd.

She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at the age of 11 and was baptized into New Victory Baptist Church. She was a member of Boones Creek Christian Church.

She graduated from Lamar High School where she enjoyed being a cheerleader.

She was a teacher’s aide for many years at West View Elementary School. She worked various other jobs before retiring after 31 years in the finance office of First Christian Church, Johnson City.

In her spare time, she enjoyed needlework, decorating, landscaping, working in her flowers and was an avid reader.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include three children, Mike Ferguson (Cathy), Eddie Ferguson and Ann Dodson (David); one sister, Norma Hillyer; grandchildren, Andrew Ferguson (Maci), Hannah Barbosa (Kurlan), Benjamin Dodson, Chloe Dodson, Catherine Dodson and William Dodson; great-grandchildren, Eli and Nora Ferguson, and Sofia Barbosa; and many nephews and nieces.

The family extends their gratitude to Patty Taylor, care givers, Diane, Gwen, Judy, Betty, Eva and Bobbie and to Amedisys Hospice, Elizabethton, TN truly angels on earth.

Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 PM, Monday, March 4, 2024, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Minister Dick Morris, Minister Phil Torbett and Mr. Mike Ferguson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM, Monday prior to service.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at New Victory Baptist Church Cemetery.

Family will serve as pallbearers.

Ann, Mike and Eddie....I am so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed coming to your house with my mom and listening to them talk. I have always had a special place for her in my heart. I know she was a great mother, grandmother and friend.
